Travel Insurance Explained organised a Roundtable at the Palace of Westminster, London on Monday 15th October 2018. Hosted and Chaired by Sharon Hodgson MP, the event called upon top-industry experts to discuss fairer and easier access to travel insurance for those with non-standard needs for example disabilities, medical conditions.
The travel insurance industry, as a whole, has developed greatly in recent years with cover for once uninsurable conditions now being accepted – and at a more affordable price. However, whilst there are products now available, there is still more that needs to be done to ensure everyone is able to easily access the most suitable travel insurance policy for their individual needs, at an appropriate price.
Finding travel insurance if you have a medical condition or non-standard needs can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Travel Insurance Explained, provides comprehensive guides that explain the cover consumers should be looking for and highlight additional extras; such as cover for activities, cancellation for any reason you could not have been expected to foresee or avoid and force majeure/natural disasters cover, these extra covers may not be widely available or easy to find on comparison sites.
By highlighting the different cover that is available the consumer has the information to make a choice and is easily able to understand what to expect from their travel insurance policy, so at claims stage consumers are more likely to satisfied.
Fiona Macrae, Head of Travel Insurance Explained, has said; ‘it was extremely beneficial to bring industry-experts together to discuss these issues. All to often, we get caught up in tradition and may not be as exposed to the changes around us. Our roundtable allowed these issues to be frankly debated and an undertaking as an industry to move forward and ensure the best outcome for the consumer.’
