Those planning to attend Royal Ascot this year would have received an email warning of rail delays and disruption.
Just one day before Royal Ascot 2018, visitors have been told to allow extra time for their journeys and seek alternative transport if possible. This comes as South Western Railway announced their plans to strike from Thursday 21st June 2018 to Saturday 23rd June 2018.

Some trains will be replaced with a bus service and race-goers should check local updates before heading to the station. Despite the travel chaos, Royal Ascot promises to be entertaining for all as the world’s finest racehorses will be competing for their share of the prize money.

Tickets are still on sale for those looking to book last minute but bear in mind accommodation availability in the surrounding area is limited. Visitors who have booked in advance should have already taken out travel insurance to cover the costs of their pre-paid accommodation and tickets – this is not offered by all travel insurers so check your policy carefully as you don’t want to be left disappointed if you can’t make the trip.

UK travel insurance is offered by most insurers and with the cost of a day at the races quickly rising into the hundreds, when you take into account accommodation, tickets and transport, it is always a good idea to make sure you have a suitable policy. The majority of UK travel policies will only cover a minimum of two nights, three days but there are some policies that do not have a restriction so this may be something to look out for.
